Searching for knowledge is compulsory for every Muslim male and Muslim female
- Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
2022 is closing in on us and in hindsight, the year was in a flux the whole time!
From watching the greatest sports miracle of all time to losing the longest-serving monarch of the Great Britain, this year had it's share of highs and lows, thrills and blues, flaws and lessons and most importantly, it was the witness of the ever growing barbarism of the Taliban which is yet to get paradoxically saturated by the likes of us, and I say us, because I know am not alone in this.
I know it's tempting to rebuff the political obsession and culture wars happening in Afghanistan, especially when the season of celebrations lies ahead of us. I know that all we want to think about is seeing our loved ones, taking long walks with our partners, reminisce about our childhood memories of making Christmas treats, doting on Santa for gifts that leave us warm-cheeked, and forget that there's an inferno burning across a country of more than 40 million. But please DON'T LOOK AWAY.
Taliban's recent ban on women's higher education is a meteorite falling on a country that is already plagued by bankruptcy and widespread poverty.
While we are busy planning an escapade to Niagara falls, the Afghans are barely making it through the day and while we plump up the shopping streets, their Christmas and New Year's is but an upsetting retreat to doom!
As we count on 2k23 to fulfill all our dreams and imbue our lives with bliss, it breaks my heart to think about the people looking at another year engulfed with darkness. It shakes me to my core to imagine them fighting over scattered breadcrumbs on the roads of Kabul. It rattles my spirit to see those young women whose future has been taken away from them wailing on the streets in protest only to be shut down and beaten up!
But I believe that we still have a chance to change the way those history books will tell the story of 2023 for Afghans. We can still become a beckon of hope in their never ending night and power them through their fight.
We will offer free education to Afghan women for as long as we can on our global education marketplace Pashtya. And we require the support of tutors from all around the world for that.
A miracle is in making, join our community to leave a little magic in the lives of the people who need it the most♥️
